Heat Networks

Geo-exchange can be deployed to minimise the carbon content of heat across new and existing heat networks. Explore how it provides options to replace gas as a primary energy source or to add thermal storage and waste heat recovery to established systems.

Low carbon options for heat networks

Ambient loop or centralised options

90x less surface space than U-tubes

Lead with cutting-edge solutions

Technology

Harnessing the Earth's thermal energy

Our expertise allows us to integrate the abundant thermal potential of the earth with diverse waste heat sources. Networks can then be designed to operate as ambient loops or deliver final-grade heat. In either case our objective will be to optimise reliability and costs whilst delivering the lowest possible carbon content of heat.

New Heat Network Design

01

Our systems can seamlessly add inter-seasonal thermal storage to your network or displace some of your existing gas usage, offering a cost-effective and sustainable approach to decarbonising heat. Heat pumps can be configured to deliver high grade heat in the short term and replaced with more efficient options as heat networks decarbonise.

Enhancing existing networks

02

Our solutions maximise the utilisation of waste heat sources, creating heat networks that not only reduce energy waste but optimise the efficiency of heat pumps. When configured in this way the data shows that Geo-exchange systems can deliver CoP's of up to 4.7 minimising energy costs and the carbon content of heat.

Waste Heat Integration

03

Geo-exchange requires 10x fewer boreholes and up to 90x less surface space than traditional ground source heating systems. Sites in cities and with limited space can now benefit from the high efficiency offered by ground source heating.

90x less surface space

01

Highly efficient boreholes and smart management systems mean waste energy can be stored in the earth for hours, weeks or inter seasonally. Meaning thermal energy which is abundant in the summer months can be stored for use in heating season as required.

Inter seasonal energy storage

02

Geo-exchange networks offer a range of deployment options including low loss ambient loops or to supply final grade heat.

What We Do

Each engagement starts by working to understand your project. Our team use a proven approach to determine the specific requirements of your building or network including existing systems, energy demand profiles, potential waste heat recovery options, geological conditions and space constraints

Site Evaluation

01

We work with you to produce a concept design and associated cost models, outlining the upfront costs, ongoing operating expenses and potential savings. The models includes estimates for site preparation, drilling, heat pump installation & network infrastructure.

Feasibility & Cost Modeling

02

Our engineers design the Geo-Exchange system and network to meet your specific requirements. The design process consider factors such as energy efficiency, system reliability, resilience, maintenance, monitoring and cost optimisation.

Project Design

03

We help clients navigate the funding process, including securing grants, loans, and other forms of financing to secure a tailored financial solutions that can help improve the project's viability.

Funding

04

We are responsible for the project delivery, from drilling the boreholes to installing the heat pumps and distribution system. We can work as principal contractor or within your project supply chain to ensure the project is completed to the highest standards.

Construction

05

Once the system or network is operational, we offer a range of solutions to ensure the expected results are achieved. This can range from monitoring and alerting through to full system and performance management.

Operation & Management

06

At BMD Renewables, we are committed to reshaping the future of heat networks. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to enhance existing infrastructure, our solutions offer efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.

Join us in creating a heat network industry that not only meets current standards but also leads the way in energy and carbon performance.

A greener future

Our experienced professionals will guide you through an initial consultation to understand your specific needs and requirements. Whether you are a part of the food retail industry, residential development, university, or any other sector, we tailor our approach to suit your unique challenges and objectives.
